Fred Marr

Fred Marr

General Organizer Fred Marr, Director of Canadian Affairs, was appointed the general vice president on July 9, 2003.

Marr stared his career in Local 700, Windsor, Ontario, where he became a journeyman in 1971. He became certified as a welder and served on the Local Union Apprentice Committee. Marr also worked out of Local 736, Hamilton, Ontario; Local 786, Sudbury, Ontario; and Local 720, Edmonton, Alberta. He was elected to the Local 700 Executive Board in 1979 and elected business manager in 1982, 1985, 1988 and 1991.

He has been serving as the president of the District Council of Eastern Canada since 1996. Marr also serves as chairman of the Canadian Ironworkers Political Action League; as well as chairman of the Ironworkers National Sectoral Adjustment Services Apprenticeship Committee for Canada.
