Edward Walsh

Edward Walsh, president of the New York State District Council of Iron Workers, was appointed general vice president on April 17, 2004.

In his first try to elected union office he was elected to Local Union 40’s Executive Board in 1988. He became business representative of Local 40, New York, New York in 1992. Walsh was Local 40’s recording secretary since 1992. In 1995, he became business manager of Local 40 and was twice re-elected to that office.

In 2002, Iron Workers General President Joseph Hunt appointed Walsh general organizer. He was also elected President of the New York State District Council of Iron Workers, having previously been elected president of the former Greater New York City District Council.
