The Building and Wood Workers' International (BWI), a global union uniting around 334 trade unions, represents around 12 million members in 130 countries. The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers (IW) is a proud member of BWI. BWI is currently working in partnership with the IW in supporting workers from the Wendt Corporation and has initiated an email campaign for the Wendt workers through a global online news service called LabourStart.  Please take a moment of your time to show support for IW Shop Local 576 (Buffalo, N.Y.) workers as they continue to fight for their first contract with the Wendt Corporation.

In June 2017, workers at the Wendt Corporation, a scrap metal recycling plant based in Buffalo, New York, successfully fought for respect and dignity by forming a union. The workers voted to join the IW (Local 576). However, Wendt continues to mistreat workers by dragging their feet in failing to negotiate in good faith with the union for the first collective bargaining agreement. In addition, the company has launched an anti-union campaign by harassing union members and threatening to lay-off workers.

Go here to support the workers at Wendt by simply typing your name and email address and clicking send to generate an email to the Wendt Corporation, encouraging them to negotiate in good faith with our brothers and sisters working in their shop.
