Kolbe, Rugola-Dye, Shonborn elected to the Democratic National Convention Caucus for OH-18

Out of a field of 54 candidates, David Kolbe, Mary Rugola-Dye, and Sandra Shonborn were nominated on Friday, April 13, 2012 to represent the former 18th Congressional District of Ohio at the Democratic National Convention.  The convention will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina the week of September 3, 2012. Kolbe, Rugola-Dye, and Shonborn running as a ticket, won with a total of seventy-four votes.

Instrumental to their victory were the efforts of Business Manager Bill Sherer of Local 550 (Canton, Ohio), who brought along a busload of his brothers and sisters, as well as his father and former 550 Business Manager Bill Sherer Sr.  Members from Iron Workers Local Union 172 (Columbus, Ohio) and AFSCME came out to support the ticket as well. Some of the ironworkers in attendance drove over two hours to support Dave Kolbe’s election.

Dave Kolbe, Mary Rugola-Dye, and Sandra Shonborn want to extend their gratitude to their union brothers and sisters who supported them in this election.

Dave Kolbe serves the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers as the legislative and political director.
