December 2012

Holiday Greeting from The International Officers

This past year has been full of challenges and triumphs. We stood up, had our voices heard, and re-elected President Barack Obama. We made the choice for safe working conditions, better wages, health care, a higher standard of living for you and your family, a retirement with dignity and respect, and most important, a voice in the workplace.

We pledged to make 2012 the Year of Zero Fatalities. Unfortunately, seven brothers lost their lives on the jobsite. One death is unacceptable. In their honor, we commit to "See Something-Say Something," and begin the "Countdown to Zero" in 2013. We will not stop until every ironworker returns home safe. As we ring in the New Year, please take a moment to remember those we have lost and vow to save a life in 2013.

Looking forward to the opportunities before us to rebuild North America, we will continue our efforts to double market share and bring the value of union representation to those less fortunate.

We are proud to be union ironworkers. We work hard to be the best. Let us continue to be a leader on our jobs, with the building trades, and in the industry. As we gather with family over the holidays - on the jobsite and in our homes - remember the support, love, and gifts we have been given.

Wishing you and your loved ones peace, health, happiness, and prosperity in the coming New Year!
