Thanksgiving is a time when we gather family together and, regardless of the circumstances or the challenges we faced over the past year, we collectively give thanks for what we have— each other. The same is true of our Union family. I’ve seen Ironworkers celebrate a topping out, and seen them respond to tragedy, and “family” is the only word that can describe both events.
We have come through a construction depression, fought off attacks on our basic liberties, and braved the tests of our trade. And we have done it all as a family, as a Union. We stuck together and we looked out for each other, at work and at the polls. We have much to be thankful for. That glint in a Brother or Sister’s eye that says, “I’ve got your back,” or that quiet nod of respect for a job well done. Whether we’re linked arm in arm in a battle or pointing out what we have built to friends and family, we are thankful for the pride we have earned in being Union Ironworkers – the best Ironworkers in the world.
So on this occasion, I thank you for being part of our Ironworker family and wish you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving.
