For over most of the last century, the federal Davis-Bacon Prevailing Wage Act ( and numerous state-level laws) have helped bring about a more level-playing field for contractors and workers on public projects in the United States.
Through IMPACT, we are dedicated to “fair contracting” compliance on public projects to ensure that anyone who works on a public project performing the trade receives the full pay for their classification.
We encourage full participation in the U.S. Department of Labor surveys that establish prevailing wage rates for specific localities. And we work to protect these rates so that they are issued as prevailing for those jobs in localities where, under the Department of Labor’s own rules, our trade dominates. We work to ensure that all rates in all regions properly reflect current collective-bargaining agreements.
We work with local, state and federal officials and compliance groups to hold low-ball, unscrupulous contractors accountable to the public interest -pushing to see contracting laws enforced.
We specialize in providing direct assistance in wage enforcement and related public records requests, all in the goal of raising the bar of equity and quality for workers, contractors, the industry, and the public.
