Hear firsthand about the OSHA General Duty Clause Section 5(a)1 and how it is used to issue citations in the workplace
Join the Iron Workers-IMPACT Safety Call to hear about the OSHA general duty clause from James Sullivan, former chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) Review Commission, James Stanley, former deputy assistant secretary for OSHA and Steven Hawkins, former director of Tennessee OSHA.
A widespread misunderstanding exists regarding citations being issued more frequently in construction and industrial workplaces under the OSHA general duty clause. The Iron Workers safety department has fielded calls and messages from employers, safety personnel and local union members regarding OSHA citations issued for alleged workplace hazards and OSHA’s discretion and use of the general duty clause citations for common steel erection and reinforcing steel activities.
