WASHINGTON - The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers (Ironworkers) and Harris Davis Rebar, LLC (Harris Davis), jointly announced the execution of a National Reinforcing Steel Agreement (the Agreement) with an initial term of 4 years. The Agreement will provide Harris Davis and future contractor signatories the strengths and visibility of a national presence combined with the skilled workforce required to excel in a local market by facilitating the portability of key employees while preserving standards found in Local collective bargaining agreements.
To further enhance the opportunities for both the signatory contractors and Ironworker members, the Agreement also calls for the creation of Market Competitiveness Committees. These committees will be formed in each applicable District Council and include representatives of rebar placing contractors, area Iron Worker Local Unions and others with a focus on increasing the market share of the Ironworker – Contractor team.
The President of Harris Davis, Jeff Green, recognized the agreement for its ability to match the Ironworkers’ strengths of a trained, skilled workforce with the needs of a nationally focused reinforcing placer, “This agreement will improve the safety, efficiency and quality of reinforcing placing across the industry. This collaboration will raise industry expectations for concrete reinforcing installation, a key portion of the critical path for every project.”
Walter Wise, Ironworkers General President, commented that, “The agreement is another example of the Ironworkers commitment to expand work opportunities for our members as the best value and the best business solution for contractors, general contractors and project owners. Growing our contractor base grows our membership and increases our collective resources and abilities to meet changing market needs. We look forward to working with Harris Davis and other reinforcing contractors to expand our mutual market share."
